Collaborative Meeting at Yale F&ES

September 30, 2017

The whole team gathered together for an all-day brainstorming session. Dr. Mark Turin and his PhD student, Apoorva Lal, flew down from the University of British Columbia. The team was joined by Yale Himalaya Initiative’s Himalayan Institute Fellow Dr. Ruth Gamble from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Karen Seto led the meeting along with Dr. Alark Saxena from the Yale Himalaya Initiative.

Topics on the agenda were:

  • Deciding which field sites would be representative of the vast Himalayan Region. We began the conversation of the criteria for locations based on the size, population, distance from other study sites, and distance from transportation.
  • Sharing ideas for the optimization of collaborative efforts between people with varied backgrounds and areas of interest.
